The fast fashion trend has resulted in a dramatic rise in the volume of waste clothing. On land, toxic gases are generated during the incineration of discarded clothing, while in the oceans, marine ecosystems are being destroyed by microplastics. To promote sustainable growth, T&C intends to contribute to the creation of a sustainable environment by minimizing clothing waste using its own innovative technology.

Recycled waste PET bottles
We started with Jeju, but are now working with the Seoul Metropolitan Government on a resource recycling project in which waste PET bottles collected by local governments are transformed into environmentally-friendly yarn for use in the production of high-quality clothes. Our recycled yarn is purchased by Pleats Mama, North Face, and other domestic and overseas brands that manufacture environmentally-friendly clothing. As such, we are paving the way for the creation of a circular economy.

Recycled marine waste material
We first started with Busan, but now we are working with the Jeollanam-do provincial government on a resource recyling project where discarded fishing nets are collected and turned into environment-friendly yarn which is used for making high quality nylon clothing. The recycled yarn produced in this way reduces pollution in the marine ecosystem, contributing to the sustainability of the country's marine resources while also increasing public awarenss of pollution in the marine environment.

Intercompany resource recycling project
We are collaborating with POSCO and other leading companies in the field of ESG management on a resource recycling project in which waste PET bottles are collected from offices and factories and transformed into environmentally-friendly yarn, which is used to make uniforms and work overalls. The number of companies working with us on this project is expected to increase gradually, and we are contributing to the popularization of resource recycling in local communities.

Use of water derived from reprocessed sewage water
Our company is supplied with water that has been reprocessed (hereinafter referrred to as recycled water) from the sewage that flows into the Nakdonggang River. By using recycled water, we are preventing harmful pollutants from entering river ecosystem and expanding the use of recycled water, while reducing our dependence on industrial water supplied by Gumi city and helping to alleviate the shortage of industrial water in the area.

Paper cup free office
As of this year, our company has introduced a policy prohibiting the use of paper cups in its office spaces, such as pantry areas, and our employees are now using their own personal cups. It has been estimated that Hyosung TNC's headquarters alone used some 190,000 paper cups in 2020. With this campaign, Hyosung TNC hopes to reduce CO2 emissions by about 2 tons per year by drastically reducing the daily use of paper cups by its employees.
