Hyosung TNC is teaming up with “Musinsa,” a Korean online fashion brand, to target the heat-generating underclothing market that was previously dominated by Japanese products.
Recently, Korean fashion companies are aggressively targeting the winter clothing market by introducing products to replace Japanese products amid the boycott of Japanese products.
Musinsa’s heat-generating underwear “My Heat”, launched in collaboration with Hyosung, is made of Hyosung's exothermic polyester, “aeroheat EX”. Minerals contained in fiber absorb light from the sun and lighting and radiate thermal energy. The product boasts outstanding heat retention in winter and is also excellent in absorbing and discharging sweat (sweat-absorbing and quick-drying) from the body, making it comfortable to wear. Aeroheat EX can generate heat permanently even after being used by a washing machine and dryer.
According to the Korea Fashion Industry Association, the Korean underclothing market size is about KRW 2 trillion, of which the heat-generating underwear market accounts for more than KRW 700 billion. Thanks to sleek design, superior functionality, and comfortable fit compared to traditional underwear, the market is growing by 10% every year.
Hyosung is planning to solidify itself as a global chemical textile manufacturer by promoting the excellence of Korean materials through collaboration with overseas fashion companies based on experiences of working with Korean fashion brands such as Musinsa.
